If you’re in the market for a cool smartphone, then you would better to pick up something by Motorola smartphones. The Defy+ Plus is Motorola’s improved version of the Motorola Defy announced last year. Actually, the “+” is not a reference to a social network, but the clue which comes with extra features.
The Motorola DEFY is a slim, pocketable Android smartphone you can carry anywhere and everywhere- be it swimming pool, beach party or mountain trekking. Just carry it and you can forget about it until it rings; this phone requires no maintenance because it is water resistant, scratch proof and dust proof, a real rugged android mobile. Motorola defy plus, the successor to original Motorola Defy can stay underwater between 1minute and 30 minutes and it can be thrown in the sand. With its sturdiness, we can say it’s a hard to break toy.

CrystalTalk PLUS vanquishes noisy environments with two microphones which intelligently filters out background noise and amplify your voice so you don’t have to shout.
The Motorola DEFY also features the latest version of Motorola’s unique solution, MOTOBLUR, which makes it even easier to manage all of your emails, messages and social updates in one easy place with the additions of filtering, resizable widgets, added corporate security and a versatile battery manager.
All above crazy features you can get it at £205 only. Now let’s have a closer look at the rugged phone:
Design
The design hasn’t changed from the original Defy. The Defy+ is a rectangular shaped device, the scratch proof Gorilla Glass 3.7-inch display taking up the entire front, with the standard row of Android buttons at the bottom. A LED notification light rests below the glass front, on the top-left.
Camera
The Motorola DEFY Plus has a 5.0 Mega Pixels camera with various features and supports like Geo tagging, LED Flash, Autofocus and Image Stabilization. The phone camera can easily capture the pictures for the resolution of 2592 × 1944 pixels. However this handset does not come with secondary camera, so video call/ chat is out of question. Video recording is possible at 30 fps. Other camera features are digital zoom, image editor, auto focus etc.
Multimedia
The Motorola handset can play videos in MP4, WMV, H.263 and H.264 formats. MP3, AAC+, WMA and WAV music files are supported. Add to it you can enjoy live music over the built in FM radio.

Processor & OS
First of all, the handset comes with a more powerful 1GHz Ti OMAP 3620 processor, the Android 2.3 and a slightly modified interface. Quite an improvement, if you think to the original Defy, which only had an 800MHz, TI OMAP3610 processor and ran Android 2.1.
The improved interface is now more user-friendly in our test.
Display
The Motorola Defy Plus features a 3.7″ inches TFT capacitive touch screen with a FWVGA (480 x 854) resolution that gives the Motorola Defy Plus pixel density of 265 PPI, which is more than average and will give you excellent viewing experience. The thing to be noted here is the screen: scratch resistant gorilla glass. It is good, but all the specs are exactly the same as the Motorola Defy. So no improvements over here.

Battery
Battery life has also improved on the Defy plus handset thanks to the upgraded 1700 mAh li-po battery. Standby time is around 237 hours and talktime is up to 6 hours on 2G networks.
Because it’s waterproof, the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top is covered, as well as the others, of course. Also on top there is the power button, while on the left there’s the Micro-USB port and on the right the up and down volume buttons. The bottom has nothing on.

This life proof phone has proven itself better than other counterparts like HTC Wildfire S, Desire S etc. The added ruggedness doesn’t come at a cost, either in terms of price or looks. It’s good to have a device that is not high maintenance, though a larger battery would have put all worries to rest.
