If you were thinking famous Japanese manufacturer Panasonic is producing only TV and DVD players, now it’s time to change that image because Panasonic is going to enter into the serious competition with current leaders in the smartphone field. Imagine a black Toyota, but in the form of a smartphone. Only this time the device Panasonic will be launching resembles more a black square TV set, but this is a resemblance based rather on prejudice.
In March next year Panasonic is going to launch its new Android powered smartphone. So far no speculations are going on as to what the name of the new device will be, and in this sense it is quite strange. Anyway, Panasonic will launch it step by step: firstly in Europe, then in Asia, China and finally the US. The phone will be slim, have a 4.3-inch AMOLED screen with a 540×960 pixel resolution. Importantly, the device will be water-proof and dust-proof.
Moreover, this model will serve as a basis for a series of Panasonic’s later smartphones. The company expects to sell 1.5 million handsets in Europe for the next fiscal year. The company predicts it will manage to sell 15 million new smartphones next year in the global market.
