Earlier there were news that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is available in the U.S. market. But now the Sony Ericsson online store says that the smartphone’s release is postponed. Now the official press release of Sony Ericsson says the smartphone will be available in August.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia is going to be available not only via the Sony online store, but also from a list of retailer stores, including Amazon, Newegg and Buy.com. The unlocked device will be available for $599.99.

The smartphone was announced back in January. It was the thinnest handset in the market being only 8.7 mm thick. The good news is that the device sports Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 4.2 inch FWVGA with a resolution of  854  × 480 (it’s scratch-resistant, too), an 8MP auto-focus camera that can shoot 720 p videos. The only poor feature for now is the single-core 1GHz processor, which could’ve been a dual-core one.

The connectivity of the smartphone includes HDSPA, Wi-Fi  802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, GPS and HDMI.
